WASHINGTON D.C. -- Thanks to Rocco DiPippo and Michael Calderon, I had the opportunity to have lunch with Stephen Schwartz, Executive Director of the Center for Islamic Pluralism and a regular contributor to the Weekly Standard.
Mr. Schwartz, an expert on the history of Islam, can make a convincing case that the idea of an absolute prohibition on images of the Prophet in Islamic law is a myth. He believes that our media and political elites need to learn more details of Muslim beliefs and traditions so that they won’t readily support policies favored only by fringe groups with odd interpretations of their own history who seek to expand their power at the expense of everyone else.
Mr. Schwartz will make these arguments in rich historical detail in an upcoming Weekly Standard article.
Screw this stuff and let's get back to laffey. he looks good in this Senate race as he is the only one fighting for the people.
No one really cares about any of this other stuff.

You need to maybe look at what else is going on in the world. All we do on this blog is talk about Laffey and Chafee. It is only Febuary and I am already sick of both sides trying to convince each other that there guy is the Real Deal for Rhode Island.
Carroll Andrew Morse,
Say hello to all the guys at CPAC from RIRA.

Laffey cares about this other stuff. You should too. Everyone just wants to handicap the horse race. Rise above the ordinary, Ted.

Posted by: Stretch Cunningham at February 10, 2006 9:43 AMHello from CPAC. It isn't snowing [yet].
A very intresting observation was made by Ann Coulter on this very subject. She pointed out that on the Supreme Court Building in Washington, DC, that there is a clear depiction of the prophet Mohammed located on a frieze. It has been there since the building was constructed in the 1930s. It is included in a series of friezes of historical "lawmakers," such as Hammurabi and Moses. I'm surprised that no one has ever brought this up as part of this alleged prohibition on depictions of Mohammed. It appears to be yet another case of selective outrage. What's new?
