I suppose it could be seen as a step forward. Projo columnist Bob Kerr blames America’s inability to build up Iraq post-Saddam Husein not on Americans, but on Iraqis…

And speaking of the war, as I must, when are we going to hear from all those pundits, local and beyond, who were damn near giddy in declaring victory on the occasion of President Bush’s Roger Ramjet routine on the aircraft carrier four years ago? Shouldn’t at least one of these high-kicking cheerleaders step up and admit to overlooking a few small details, like that nagging tendency of Iraqis to hate each other?
For people of my generation, a frequent argument heard in the debates we had in high school in college was that Ronald Reagan was an oaf because he didn’t understand that we had no quarrel with the Russian people, it was just a misunderstanding between governments that was the problem.

Now we’ve turned that argument on its head. The refrain from the left now seems to be screw the majority of the people in foreign lands. If there’s a violent minority with guns and bombs running around, making life miserable for everyone else, then they're the important ones. The job of our government is to find out what they want, give it to 'em, and get out.

Oh, how liberalism has changed.
