I've hated this "tobacco money" from the get-go. As repulsive as I find cigarettes and the industry that pushes them, (reformed smoker, twenty-years) the stink of extortion cleverly dusguised as compensation fills the room whenever the subject is brought up. Personal responsibility? Not in this day and age. The states have set an ugly example by laying the blame of bad choices on somebody other than ourselves and then profiting from it. The logic behind the settlement is one of enablement. The whole thing is a farce, nobody made anybody smoke. Make the pile of money big enough and everybody gets on board and throws their scruples out the window.
