Rasmussen: Both Republican Frontrunners Leading Senator Clinton
Carroll Andrew Morse
OK, it’s really a statistical dead heat, according to a Rasmussen head-to-head poll conducted July 30-31…
- Rudy Giuliani 46%
- Hillary Clinton 45%
- Fred Thompson 46%
- Hillary Clinton 45%
- Hillary Clinton 43%
- Barack Obama 21%
- John Edwards 12%

What does it say about Democrat voters that the person they pick as their frontrunner is among the most disliked people in politics?
What is the latest "I don't know who I'm voting for but it sure as Hell won't be her" numbers? 46%? And we're well over a year from the election and people haven't REALLY begun to get tired of hearing her 'ex-wife screeching' voice yet.
Posted by: Greg at August 2, 2007 2:19 PMThese national numbers don't really tell the tale.
Barring a significant independent candidate (which is a possibility), this race most likely comes down to the fight for about the middle 3-5 percent of the vote in the states of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Iowa, maybe Colorado and a couple of others.
If Sen. Clinton can get to 50 percent in the battleground states, it doesn't matter if her negatives among the poll sample are high.
Posted by: brassband at August 2, 2007 5:46 PMThank you, Brassband, for the reminder that the focus on national numbers is very misleading, given the Electoral College.
Do our esteemed blogmasters have any state-level data to share?
Posted by: Thomas at August 2, 2007 7:45 PMThese polls are so irrelevant because the world we live in is so turbulent and major events can change the political landscape in a moments notice.
Posted by: Tim at August 3, 2007 6:51 AMWhat makes Hillary electable, the only thing that makes Hillary electable is Bill. If Bill wasn't at her side she'd have no shot at all. People will vote Hillary because a former President will sit in that White House with her.
We think!! lol
I'm terrified that we'll see a Clinton-Obama ticket heading into the November election, given the '06 backlash against Republicans.
My only hope is that there are enough Dems out there who will vote against them simply because she's a woman/he's black. And, really, I think that's how we'll win.
Look at our state: We've had women in higher office here for decades...Arlene Violet, Susan Farmer, Claudine Schneider...and yet Elizabeth Roberts is the first female Democrat to hold a state-level office.
Hmmmm...that just might be our salvation.
