At What Point...
Justin Katz
... do they get tired of their own rhetoric? More importantly, at what point does everybody start to catch on?
I'm referring to the comments of Anne Nolan, president of Crossroads Rhode Island, with which Charles Bakst ended his column, yesterday:
I said Carcieri is well educated and asked Nolan what she thinks his problem is. She said, "I sometimes think that it's an easy target, to target people that don't have much of a voice."
Don't have much of a voice? These people have a megaphone. If they're poor, they attract advocates. If they're immigrants, they attract advocates. If they're Democrats, they attract advocates. If they're progressives, they attract advocates. They've got friends in the academy, in the churches, in the domineering party in our state government, and obviously, in the media.
One need look no farther than the headline just a few inches away from Bakst's photo in the paper:
Youth group seeks an apology
The Providence Youth Student Movement calls on Sue Carcieri to apologize for comments she made last month.
And where were those comments trumpeted, to start the calls from the "voiceless"? Why, in a Charles Bakst column. And they were in response to accusations of "racism" published in Karen Lee Ziner's coverage of a protest. If these kids are so voiceless, why does the governor's wife appear to be on the defensive?
Don't get me wrong (turning back to the housing issue); I'm thankful that there are people trying to help the poor to find housing and resources. I support them in that cause. But I can't see any other moral course than to oppose them as they in a coordinated way seek the easy target of the Rhode Island taxpayers.
arlene violet referred to the 16 year old student demanding the apology as the outrage of the week-good for her!now she'll be on the segal-jerzyk "racist"list.it seems like PrYSM got a little nervous about the transparency of their organization-in true Orwellian/marxist fashion they re designed their web site, making it look like it was designed by kids and eliminating the listing of the board of directors(including jerzyk and mimi budnick)and the listing of supporting organizations such as the ri foundation,ri council on the arts, haymarket group, and resist inc,the latter two leftist direct action groups from massachusetts-the mentors are trying to slide into the background after the governor's wife called them on what they're doing.the students have a 1st amendment right to protest what may or may not have been a necessary budget cut by the governor-that is open to debate, but they can't expect to throw "racist"out casually and not have any consequences-their "handlers"can't stand a little sunlight on their nefarious activities
The First Lady of Rhode Island should be allowed absolute, unquestioned freedom of speech. Sue Carcieri should not have to apologize for her arrogance.
Likewise, the Providence Youth Student Movement should not have to apologize for daring to question why the First Lady equates them with terrorists.
Oh, that's right. Teenagers should not have free speech. Forgot. Sorry. Carry on.
Children are brainwashed by marxists. They're either armed with explosives or rhetoric. Either way, they've been brainwashed. Welcome to public schools.
rhody-was your post in response to mine?the kids don't need to apologize, but they aren't automatically entitled to a meeting with anyone-and i think i made it clear that they were exercising their rights--just because you have a right to be heard doesn't mean you'll necessarily like the results
Joe,
You referenced Arlene but not the outstanding point she made. Point being the complete hypocrisy of these Southeast Asians as they wrap themselves in their cultural flag when calling the governor a racist for cutting government services (interpreters) to their community. Pure hypocrites because within genuine Southeast Asian cultures the last place anyone looks for assistance is with the government. Family helps family or looks to extended family for an assist. Never the government. These Southeast Asians aren't representing the mother country. They're freakin' Rhode Islanders practicing moocher and looter 101 and nothing more. lol
Make that game set and match for Ms. Violet.
As to the comments of Mrs. Carcieri her points were well made and very much on the money. Made even more impressive when realizing Charlie Bakst tried and failed to throw her under the bus by taking her off the record comments and printing them. One can only hope her husband will seek retribution against Bakst for his underhanded and smarmy tactics used against Rhode Island's First Lady. Is there anyone still employed at the Projo who doesn't slither around on their belly? What an ugly and highly offensive lot on Fountain st. Ugly!! Just the worst!
tim-i should have pointed out what you mentioned because arlene did make that very reference to se asian cultural values-the governor could get back at bakst by approaching him with a piece of bath soap-charley is a slob and if buddy cianci is to be believed,a food moocher at media events-the fountain street crew is largely a collection of left wing lowlifes, except for mark patinkin-he's a decent enough guy
The ProJo came out this week against any kind of tax hike. So much for the charges of it being a liberal paper.
Sue Carcieri at least did more than her husband in fighting the two Southeast Asian teenagers. He passed on his chance in the 60s.
Joe,
Yes they are lowlife scum. Did you see the propagandizing done in Thursday's paper on the governor's pulling of Bev Najarians's name as head of Administration? The Projo apparatchiks took that news and coupled it with the Senate's final report from last years Smart Staffing 'oversight' (lol) and spun it to give the appearance that Najarian was running away because of the report.
Thankfully we have talk radio and the Projo hates and I do mean hates that medium so much.
Projo lies get public exposure on talk radio and force the Projo into more legitmate reporting.
Najarian came on with John Depetro yesterday and explained that she's been planning on retiring (in her 70's) from that job for at least a year now but was delayed because both Jerry Williams and Brian Stern one of whom would have replaced her took on other big job within the admininstration. She was very angry when responding to the lies in Thursday's Projo on John's show Friday because party apparatchiks Gregg and Peoples have been well aware of her intention to retire from that job for a long time now as they've been well aware the governor was in the process of hiring her successor. Even with the prior knowledge Najarian was leaving they still spun the story.
Disingenuous and disgusting 'journalism'!
Read Peoples follow-up article in today's Projo. Must be so degrading for these print media party apparatchiks to be forced into reporting 'facts' because of talk radio. Ouch!
Sad reality is the apparatchiks in the State House bureau are incapable of writing straight news stories. They spin propaganda and lies to fit their agenda. Their lack of professionalism is shocking and it's quite apparent the lack of professional standards extends to Projo management who give blessing to these lies on a daily basis. Sad to say but if not written by Mike Stanton don't believe a word you read in the Providence Journal. Not one word. No integrity or standards of good journalism practiced on Fountain st. Absolutely none! Don't take my word for it. Read their spin.

you don't have to tell me about levesque-i ran into this disgusting piece of crap when i testified at a senate hearing-he very sneakily tried to get me to testify to something i didn't know enough about to do so-i didn't bite and it pissed off the slob-he makes rhoda perry look like rambo!
Levesque is a dullard version of Michael Moore.
hey ragin'-the michael moore comparison is very accurate, except as you point out, moore is smarter-some liberals, like sen.metts rep.almeida,or rep.fox i disagree with on almost everything, but i find them to be respectable and generally good people-levesque,handy,miller,and ajello i just have no use for at all-even rhoda perry is head and shoulders above them-i just cannot tolerate her attempts to violate the second amendment rights of rhode islanders-my favorite target of derision is david segal-not because he's a leftist, but because he's like the chick on the can of bon ami cleanser-"hasn't scratched yet"-he needs to grow the f::: up and not recklessly accuse people he doesn't personally know and has never met of being racists,fascists,etc-i received a very courteous non-formulaic e mail response from rep.fox on an issue i wrote to every legislator on-he didn't see it my way but i appreciated the time he took and his sincerity-my daughter used to frequently encounter sen. metts when she was with the providence school dept and she thought a lot of him(he had been her high school typing teacher)-it's not always about right vs.left, but about how people go about trying to get things accomplished-i don't have the temperament to be a legislator, but then i never thought of being one-there are quite a few who are there who should've had the same self evaluation and not run for office because they are toxic to the well being of rhode island
Metts liberal? Talk social issues with him, and you'll see how liberal he really is.
Rhody,
You pay enough attention to this stuff to know that "liberal" and "conservative" are defined along more than one issue-axis. And if you don't want to that Senator Metts is a liberal on one or more of those axes, you're acknowledging and IWW-like outlook on the world.
