Karl Rove on Fox last night pointed out that the Clintons have basically baited Sen. Obama into answering this personally.

In making that response, Sen. Obama sounds a little petty, don't you think?

Rove's point is that Sen. Obama is letting the Clintons dictate the agenda, and this is the kind of issue where the response should come from a surrogate, not the candidate himself.

I think the analysis is correct; although it may not hurt Sen. Obama at this point, it does reveal that he really might quite not be ready for for the big leagues.

Personally I think that Karl Rove, mastermind of the last eight years of absolute Charlie Foxtrot should promptly sit down and STFU. I wouldn't trust him to watch my DOGS.

What kind of message is Hillary sending? On one hand, she's putting out the VP feelers to Obama, but on the other, her chief spokesman is saying McCain is more qualified to be commander in chief than Obama. Make up your mind, Hil.
Even if Obama loses the nomination, he'd be crazy to accept. That would be like accepting the endorsement of a guy who put out rumors that you were mentally unstable, your wife was a drug addict, questioned your daughter's ancestry...

Anyone who turns down a VP nomination is a fool.

If the ticket wins, he/she would be the VP and have an excellent chance to become President in his own right.

If the ticket loses he/she would be the odds-on favorite for 2012.

Brassband, you'd be right 99 percent of the time. But why would Obama want to be part of a Clinton co-presidency in which he'd be reduced to an ornament? In a Clinton administration (unless she picks somebody already tight with she and Bill), Obama would be squeezed out of any role close to what Gore or Cheney has enjoyed.

I am so weary of the Clintons, and pray that the electorate sees it this way, too. Geraldine Ferraro's comments today about Senator Obama were the final straw. I also don't think it is coincidental that the number of racially motivated fear- and hate-mongering comments increased significantly. Clintonistas are playing a dangerous game with the American psyche.

Does anyone think this country, as a whole, is ready and willing to fully back and have a female president or a black president?

Brassband, it is entirely possible that there was a secondary, manipulative motive for Senator Clinton to ask this question. How about this? She got Obama on the record as rejecting the vice presidential spot, thereby freeing her up to invite someone else in the event she is the candidate.

Ultimately, though, considering the fact that Obama was (is) ahead at the time, she just looks silly for asking the question, whatever her motive.
