Silencing the Iconic

I see that the following news item on the legendary Brigitte Bardot caught Jay Nordlinger's eye, as well:
The headline was arresting: "Brigitte Bardot on trial for Muslim slur." She had incited "racial hatred." Oh my goodness, how? What did she say? I prepared for the worst. BB had said, "I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population, which is destroying us, destroying our country, and imposing its acts." That's it: For that, on trial as a criminal. ...Ladies and gentlemen, when I hear about Brigitte Bardot, or Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant in Canada, I am grateful to live in a free country. For all my complaining about America, I am grateful. And I know you are, too.
The differences between the United States and other Western nations aren't always directly before us, but sometimes we are gifted with reminders.

I wonder if they have jury nullification there? Hopefully she'll win.
This is the inevitable consequence of "political correctness" and "hate crimes" IF we let the Leftists / Democrats rule THIS country. The slippery slope is alive and well - they'll take our guns in the name of public safety, and they'll take our free speech in the name of anti-hate and anti-discrimination.
Consider that within the past few weeks right here in RI those of us who've advocated for enforcement of our immigration laws have been branded as "racists" and purveyors of "hate."
Throughout history Leftists have always sought to eliminate contrary opinion and speech. Think Siberian death camps and Cambodian killing fields at one extreme, and being indicted for "hate speech" at a less physical but equally chilling effect in the "advanced Western societies."

"Multi-culturalism" - a banner under which to commit societal suicide.

It doesn't have to be one of the other. We can have freedom of speech and still enjoy living in a country that doesn't spend billions attacking a country that never attacked us. In 9 months, our road to recovery will begin.
