It all leads me to one main question:

Is Paiva-Weed the Welfare Queen or the Casino Queen?

Which crown does she wear the best?

This is really what's needed. Every seat needs to be challenged sufficiently to deplete the Dem's coffers and actually give the constituents an OPTION on the ballot in November.

If there was ever a year where "Someone Else" has a reasonable chance of winning it's this year.

Of course the anti-republican backlash could hurt us, too. God knows after eight years of Big Oil running the country we deserve the national black eye.

I'm not looking at this as the Rep. Vs. Dems, I'm looking at it as Perry vs. Weed and we can now bid adieu to THE WEED!

No one's more thrilled about Donna running than me (except for all the people from around the state offering her money). I wouldn't be surprised if The Weed ends up being the poster child of the 2008 election cycle in RI.

PS I don't think it's going to be as anti-Republican as you might think, though I think incumbent anythings are going to face a tougher challenge this year. Locally, I think that bodes well for Republicans running for General Assembly. On the presidential level, I think McCain is going to do very well among Rhode Island voters, among Reps, Dems, and independents. While odds would be against McCain outright winning Rhode Island, I think he could easily exceed 45%. McCain, for better or worse, is a known quantity; Obama is not. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if a few more balls drop on Obama between now and the election. He's basically a cross between Jimmy Carter and Mike Dukakis, with the tax policies of Walter Mondale. He may do well among the elites, the ignorant and the young, but I think he's going to have a very hard time with most people with a job over age 35.

The sister of a local radio talker taking on an incumbent he is, and will be, pounding on daily...if the GOP can't win this seat, it's time to pack the long knives and go.

Not only that, Perry's very very attractive, while Paiva-Weed looks, well, Democrat.

Why is it that Republican women almost always are much better looking than Democrat women? (Think Ann Coulter.)

Maybe that explains why Democrats always come across as so bitter.

I'm sure they'll offer Sen. Paiva-Weed time on the radio to respond. Of course, she'd have to come out of the bat cave every now and then to do that.

Laura made her bones off a New York Times Sunday Magazine cover story in the early '90s about young conservatives, where she was photographed wearing a leopardskin miniskirt. She brings it.
As does Amy Holmes, frequent guest on CNN and Real Time with Bill Maher. She's milking a profitable niche - young, attractive, African-American (although she may be mixed) female conservative.

As the only woman posting here so far, I will say that I agree Repub women are much better looking than Demoncrap women. I mean Madeline Albright and Janet Reno...ugh!!

But getting back on subject..I am so excited about Donna Perry running against Weed. I will be in Newport helping Perry with her campaign this fall! The thought of the Senate being Weedless next year makes me very happy!!

National politics aside (that's for another time), RI NEEDS Repubs in that GA!! The Dems are going to turn RI into a bonafide nanny state. We are just about there now!!! We need new blood up on Smith Hill...blood that is not bought and paid for by the Unions and the ACLU. The GA has been in Dem hands for way too many years..it's time for the other side to balance it out.

Excellent because the Weed has voted NOT to pay her share of 10% along with a lot of other irresponsible warts growing on the white mushroom. She also made sure she would stamp out the E-Verify...

What's really pathetic are these people are blatent with their bad legislation which is NOT in the best interests of we the people. The difference is years ago it was done in the backroom and I had watched them in my short time here boldly move Expungement and other bogus laws here in RI.

We need a professional Pest & Fungas Exterminator at the Mushroom to weed it out and bring a less toxic result.

Exactly. And for many years this has been going on.

Paiva-Weed has shown little leadership as Senate Majority Leader. What has she done to clean up the problems in the General Assembly and in the state? Little or nothing.

Instead, she has proven that she is "one of the boys" who run the state from the back room. She has blocked important citizen reforms, been involved in major conflicts of interest (casino), and she has not cleaned up the ethical mess in her legislative body.

M. Teresa Paiva-Weed is a major part of RI's problem.
