Frank Just as You'd Expect
Justin Katz
One could have expected that Barney Frank would know that he was playing to his own crowd at last night's Ocean State Follies, and it also wasn't surprising that his humor has a meanish, hyperpartisan tinge: stream, download. The clearest indication of his attitude came toward the end when somebody on the restaurant staff dropped some dishes and Frank's ad lib inclination was to crack about his or her working above "classification."
Socialism's gonna be fun with this gang!

With 100 at that filthy communist rag being axed Friday, more likely soon to come, the flagship Fountain St. building having a "for sale to highest bidder" sign and the "Pamphlet" to literally shrink in size come April, the ones laughing loudest are those of us joyously celebrating its coming demise.
Posted by: Mike at February 28, 2009 8:58 AMYes Rhody I am HAPPY these marxist pals of yours are losing their jobs. Very happy.
I hazard to say I am far from alone.
Mike-
While I'm definitely more of a fan of the local papers, the Journal does serve its purpose, even if it doesn't do it really well. Without a statewide newspaper, the Celonas and Irons whose behavior is lurking just below the surface will never get found. I hope the paper doesn't go completely under, or at least if it does, something else is available to replace it.
Posted by: Patrick at February 28, 2009 9:09 AMMike, I'm afraid your fantasy of Texas reactionaries coming in to take over the ProJo just isn't gonna happen.
Posted by: rhody at February 28, 2009 11:41 AMWe all lost this week, across the political spectrum. If you think the bad guys (however we define them) get away with enough now, imagine what they will get away with without a daily newspaper in town?
Rhody you brain damaged fool. We are looking forward to the EXTINCTION of the "Pamphlet".
Posted by: Mike at February 28, 2009 12:56 PMHow do you twist my words to interpret them as calling for phantomn "Texas reactionaries" to save the state?
Why would anyone from Texas try to save the fast-sinking progressive s***hole that is Rhode Island? Garbage like your pals have hijacked the state and run it into the iceberg. Congratulations.
Mikey, I can't twist anything like you can. If Rhode Island hurts you so bad, you can always go to Texas.
Posted by: rhody at February 28, 2009 2:35 PMThere were just as many jokes about the quality of the ProJo coming FROM the stage last night, believe me. And they were funnier than anything you've belched out here.
I look forward to your upcoming ranting and raving about RNI.
"Frank's ad lib inclination was to crack about his or her working above "classification.""
Kind of like you, huh, Congressman?
