In my opinion the taxpayers of Rhode Island will suffer under this style of "leadership" until the entire state collapses under its own self-imposed financial burden.
General Treasurer Caprio called for the General Assembly to be called back into session on 13 November! Yet nothing was done! The parties in the Sate House and self-praise and mutual admiration continue unabated while the state continues to sink ever deeper into the abyss!
The General Assembly really doesn’t care what happens as long as they get theirs!
These people don’t care about the Rule of Law! They don’t comply with ART III Sec 7 of the RI Constitution regarding “Ethical Behavior” let alone adhering to open government!
What ever happened to Separation of Powers? How many years ago did the citizens vote? And Murphy, Paiva-Weed et al still refuse to comply!
Then we have Rep Tim Williamson’s comments last week supported by Speaker Murphy’s Leg Counsel.
The refusal to release a report paid for with public funds would seem to be a violation of the Access to Public Records Act. Very simple right? Just file a complaint with the AG’s Office.
Unfortunately these people placed an exception into this law that exempts them from complying. It applies to everyone BUT them! This is what it’s all about. Secrecy and Control!
They are about to “coronate” a new Chief Justice for the RI Supreme Court within the next few months. My bet is on Maureen McKenna- Goldberg. Why? Her “less than stellar” record in upholding the Rule of Law? No, in my opinion, she will be selected because she will continue Frank Williams’ practice of “interpreting” the law to the political advantage of those in power. Kevin McKenna’s article in the Projo this week lays it all out for anyone to read.
It is time to take back our state by going on the offensive and revealing to the public the true character of their “representatives”.
But who will take up the challenge? Until the people are taxed out of their homes, I ear there will be no taxpayer revolt.
Thomas Wilson Dorr! Where are you when we need you!
If the General Assembly “represents” the citizens of Rhode Island, God help us all!
>Speaker Murphy places muzzles on the other seventy four House members.
Or as an organ grinder, with 74 monkeys dancing to his tune when he cranks the "legislative grant" handle!
And on the Senate side, we could have Teresa Paiva-Weed dressed up as the Wizard of Oz's wicked witch, with the Senate rank and file dressed up as the winged-monkeys.
>>Great ideas, Tom, but it would require a Capital Grille fundraiser to get all that up on stage.
Just offer them complimentary banana daiquiris and they’ll show.
