By way of an update to the bizarre story of the veteran against whom an ex-girlfriend and the Rhode Island Superior Court conspired to keep him out of his own house for more than two years, now, I heard from Paul Kelly this week, and he's still locked out. Apparently, the trial that would remove Pocahontas Cooley from the premises with a restraining order is complete, but Judge Ojetta Rogeriee Thompson has decided not to issue a ruling until she conducts a separate trial involving Cooley's appeal of an eviction order that would have given Paul his home back many months ago.
The courtroom insanity resumes September 10.
Unbelievable.
I am completely at a loss to understand how this can happen.
I've already a bald spot on the back of my head from scratching to understand how Lynch could not find any criminal wrongdoing with the fickle finger of finagling in the Cicilline/Garcia/Providence City Hall case.
As soon as my hair grows back, I'll have to start scratching again on the Paul Kelly case.
This is just insane.
Posted by: Roland at August 9, 2009 8:28 PMJust curious, how does the fact that Mr Kelly is a veteran affect the story.
Is miss Cooley also a veteran?
(and yes I am a veteran)
Sure, Simeone, glad to explain.
It would already be outrageous that our courts would permit someone with a claim as tenuous (which is to say non-existent) as Ms. Cooley's to continue to live in someone else's house while keeping the rightful owner out of the house for ... what's it been, two years?
That this would happen to a person who literally risked his life for our country (I understand that Mr. Kelly served abroad in the armed forces in a combat situation) is unspeakable.
Shame, shame on our courts.
Posted by: Monique at August 9, 2009 10:02 PMHey, Roland, you're not the only one scratching your head over that one. So are the RI State Police.
By the way, seeing you brought it up, did you notice that the AG made the decision not to prosecute the mayor two months AFTER the mayor had decided not to challenge Lynch in a gubernatorial primary?
Seeing that Cicilline was no longer a threat to him politically, the AG could return to form and go easy on yet another Dem (or Dem supporter).
NO she is not a Veteran, she is a thief, a fraud, a phony, a lying conniving low life gold digger. And this is coming from first hand experience 12 years ago. Her real name ISN'T EVEN POCAHONTAS!!! Its Lorna. UNF*INGBELIEVABLE that this is STILL going on. God bless poor Mr. Kelly.

Don't we all know that veterans harbor a barely supressed violence. What other kind of person would join the military?
I hope this is recognized as a comment on reporting and not veterans.
I hope justice is finally served and that this veteran isn't pushed over the edge.
I normally have a high opinion of Judge Thompson,but this is a puzzler.Of course,I am not a lawyer,so what do I know?We better ask Steve Brown.Oops,wait-he isn't a lawyer either.
