…but he's not ready to tell us what it is yet, reports Ray Henry of the Associated Press…
[Gordon Fox], D-Providence, said he had proposals for reviving the economy but was not ready to discuss them.Rep. Fox, the current Democratic Majority Leader in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, is the frontrunner to replace current Speaker William Murphy, who has announced that he will not seek re-election for the 2011 legislative session."For me to sit here today and say we're going to do X, Y and Z, I think, is premature," said Fox, who is campaigning to succeed House Speaker William Murphy in early 2011. "I don't think it's fair to the members and it would be foolish of me to do that."
Hey, that's great Gordo, but I have a plan too that's even better than yours. But I'm not telling what mine is either.
Posted by: Patrick at December 3, 2009 12:24 PMIts obvious, isn't it? He's going to put (more) lipstick on the pig...
Posted by: John at December 3, 2009 1:42 PMDidn't Richard Nixon have a plan to get us out of Vietnam? He, too, was going to reveal it once he got into office.
Gosh, I can't seem to remember how that worked out ...
Posted by: Monique at December 3, 2009 7:50 PMCome on Monique,
Go easy on poor Gordo. He's merely exhibiting all the usual leadership qualities we've come to expect from the General Assembly.
Can you imagine Dwight Eisenhower saying he has a plan to defeat Nazi Germany, but it was premature to discuss it?
Can you imagine Martin Luther King saying he had a plan to secure the civil rights so many Americans deserved, but it was premature to discuss it?
Can you imagine Vince Lombardin saying he had a plan to win the Super Bowl, but it was premature to discuss it?
What Gordo is really saying is that, like the majority of his colleagues in the GA, he is devoid of ideas and is merely waiting for the Union's to tell him what his next move should be.
Posted by: George Elbow at December 3, 2009 8:34 PMIt's amazing. One of the many so called lawmakers, is going to fix the mess he has helped create. Just go away Gordon, and take the rest of the GA with you
