To Be Reenfranchised

Justin Katz

Just a note as you head out to vote, today: If you feel that the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor disenfranchised you by dropping out immediately upon winning the primary — or are incensed that others were thus disenfranchised — there is an option. Write in Kara D. Russo on the ballot and fill in the appropriate arrow.

I voted for Robert Healey for Lieutenant Governor. People keep trying to tell me that the great majority of voters respond mostly to advertising and image, yet somehow with his lower-than-than-low intensity campaign, he's gotten into the 40s in some polls, mainly on the strength of his idea. That in itself is something worth voting for.

And for the record, at the polling place today, no one attempted to stop me from voting for any office on the basis that I had voted for Heidi Rogers in the primary, so I can say definitively that I was not "disenfranchised".

Since Kara wasn't a good-faith candidate in the first place, doesn't this gambit reinstate the Chris Young/Kara Russo hijacking of the RIGOP?

The RIGOP leadership and Heidi Rogers lied with their pre-meditated scheme. We need to reject all dishonesty, not just the dishonesty of the "opposition".

I voted for Healey too.
Why loose the race because your feelings are hurt? Just because he doesn't have a (r) next to his name?

Kara Russo, like Chris Young, ran for multiple offices. That's not very ethical.
A comedy act without a straight man gets old fast.

If the Governor does die or become incapacitated, at least Healey has the knowledge and demeanor to run the state. Kara Russo (and sidekick Chris Young) as Governor? God help us.

blah, blah, blah... it's still dishonest!

The GOP is no better than the radical left if they are going to be dishonest, distort the truth, then tell you, "this is no big deal" or "get over it".

Maybe I'll vote for "Bob Show"... who knows... but it won't be for THE LIE

So essentially, while you claim to be for "limited government" you will help whisk Liz Roberts back into office rather than support the candidate that embraces those ideals? Because of the actions of a party whose banner he refused to run under4?

Makes sense to me...

Healey took part in this lie, so I don't trust him to fulfill his campaign pledge.

It really does make sense if you think it through. Bob show is an honest compromise. If the GOP really wants to make gains, it needs to stop playing the same games the opponents play.

I'll vote Republicans in other races. But I'm registering my protest against dishonesty in this one.

Agree with you George. I voted for Venturini in protest, although I might have written in Kara Russo if I had read Justin's post before going to vote.

I wanted to vote for the Republican because I'm not sold on Healey's ideas and didn't want to vote for the current Lt. Governor. Never did believe Healey could win, either. When Heidi Rogers stepped down,my first thought was that the Republicans just gave the election to Liz Roberts.
