Romney to Win New Hampshire; No Consensus not-Romney Emerges

Carroll Andrew Morse

If the New Hampshire primary numbers via CNN as of 9:30, with about half the vote in and all counties at least partially reporting, stay reasonably stable...

  • Mitt Romney will finish first, with somewhere between 35% and 40% of the vote,
  • Ron Paul will finish 2nd somewhere in the 25% range,
  • Jon Huntsman will finish 3rd, with somwhere between 15% and 20% of the vote,
  • Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum will be in a near tie for 4th and 5th place, in the 10% range, and
  • Rick Perry will finish 6th, struggling to gain a single digit percentage of the vote.
So with none of the candidates who's strategy is based on a conscious appeal to conservatives able to crack the top 3, does Mitt Romney now have the Republican nomination for President locked up, or might a single consensus challenger still appear by the time of or during the South Carolina primary?

Loved Jonah Goldberg's tweet (which scrolled on NRO's The Corner):

"Huntsman may be the first presidential candidate in American history to think he lost because he didn't speak in Chinese enough."

I'm still not buying the proposition that the final outcome can be determined by two states that just happen to get in line first for primary season.

Maybe not Justin but one guarantee is that Newt is in it for the revenge from here on in.

To me,conservatism means staying as true as possible even with the existing erosions to the US Constitution.

Somehow that has been twisted to mean other things, when it really doesn't.

The only candidate who really tries to uphold Constitutional principles is Ron Paul.

Further,Romney is so callous that he put his family dog on the roof of his car, like an inanimate hunk of plastic luggage to go on a trip and the poor creature was so scared that it shat all over the place..

He is so callous that in Ma. people who don't or can't conform to his Romneycare (in other words pay) can be fined horribly and even jailed.

Is that what Republicans want in a President? A tyrant?

I can't believe Republicans would vote for him. Why? Cause he looks like a ferrity Ken Doll? Why?....

Helen,

I know I'll regret asking this but jail time? Do you have any documentation of jail time for failing to have health insurance?
