Simultaneously Jarring and Gratifying: "Democrats for Doherty"
Monique Chartier
On the one hand, as a Registered Republican, this makes me a little queasy and uneasy.
The [Doherty] campaign announced on Monday a new group they are coining “Democrats for Doherty,” that includes several former mayors and state representatives. The coalition will kick off at a fundraiser headlined by former Democratic Mayor of Boston Ray Flynn On Thursday June14. Flynn served as Vatican ambassador to the U.S. under President Bill Clinton.
On the other, considerable schadenfreude satisfaction can be derived from the fact that the Democrat candidates undoubtedly had the same reaction, perhaps only stronger, when they, too, heard the news.

I I didn't already have a full plate, I'd make a mint selling 'Anyone But Cicilline' bumper stickers.
I'm pretty convinced that people vote for him and then lie about it to their friends.

I lived in Boston for four years and I never met a single person who would admit voting for Mumbles Menino.
Posted by: Dan at June 12, 2012 1:01 PMSad part is that these Dems for Doh will probably have better access to his campaign (and the candidate himself) than the regular GOP member does!
Posted by: John at June 12, 2012 1:22 PMCan't say as I blame them for running away from their party. The only other viable Democrat is getting crushed by the so called 'progressives' over on RIF and then there's Cicilline. Wow!
Posted by: Max D at June 12, 2012 2:45 PMJoanne Giannini and Ray Flynn? Really? I recall Loughlin had 10 or 12 sitting RI democrats pulling for him and he still lost to Cicilline. Maybe Giannini can teach Doherty the basics on the issues, talk about Stevie Wonder leading Ray Charles!
Posted by: Todd at June 12, 2012 8:45 PMThe significance of this event is where it's being held.
Posted by: Tim at June 12, 2012 10:20 PMPatrick's Pub on Smith St. in Providence, a Democratic party stronghold for many, many years.
Impressive!

Define 'pulling for him.' I don't recall any endorsements or fundraisers. Can you be more specific?
