Fact-Checkers 4 Sale

Marc Comtois

Isn't it amazing that various, different "fact check" outfits all seemed to focus on virtually the same items from GOP VP Candidate Paul Ryan's speech last night?

"The Five Biggest Lies of Paul Ryan's Convention Speech" ~ New Republic
"Top 5 Fibs In Paul Ryan’s Convention Speech" ~ Talking Points Memo
"Ryan Takes Factual Shortcuts in Speech" ~ ABC News
"Paul Ryan Has Some Fibs He Just Isn’t Willing To Give Up" ~ Slate

That one of the above is called "Talking Points Memo" pretty much explains it all. They all focused on the same (usually 5) items. It's almost as if they all got the same fax or something. Not to be outdone, the Washington Post is actually fact-checking GOP Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney's speech--"the details...are not known"--before it happens!

Here are just a couple of the numerous counter-"fact"uals to the quickly-failing narrative shaping that was attempted in the wake of the widely-viewed-as-successful Paul Ryan speech: "Fact-checking the factcheckers on Ryan’s speech" & "Media ‘Fact Checkers’ Lie About Ryan Speech".

Ryan said that Obama, while campaigning for president, promised that a GM plant in Wisconsin would not shut down. "That plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day"

Except Obama didn't promise that. And the plant closed in December 2008 -- while George W. Bush was president

You can't make this stuff up...LOL

Yet again, Sammy shows that he is incapable of independent thought by merely parroting DNC talking points....on a post explaining those are DNC talking points. Are you a 'bot?

Sammy the Spammer Troll, if you paused your cutting-and-pasting of online Democratic newsletters for a moment to actually read the articles to which Marc linked, you would see that your carbon-copy condescension is misplaced.

Let's not let facts get in the way of a good Sammy rant:

gazettextra.com/news/2009/feb/19/gm-plant-last-day-finalized/

Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009

JANESVILLE — General Motors will end medium-duty truck production in Janesville on April 23, four months to the day after the plant stopped building full-size sport utility vehicles.

Wow, April 23, 2009. Bush was still in office then?

Let's face it, the facts were bent, or at least massaged, to fit the speech.

I am surprised that Sammy isn't running with a better story. The videotaping of delegates getting a lap dance from a Sarah Palin look-alike at the "Doll House". I have heard this discussed on the radio, but have yet to find the video. "Family Values" have taken another hit.

The Neo-Nazi US Lamestream media will be kicking into high desperation gear. The New American Communist Party will hold their convention in Charlotte this week. We will again see Hussein with his teleprompter and halo summoning the lemmings to the ocean where he will part the sea to lead them to the promised land voting booth. Hussein will speak to fainting crowds and fawning "journalists" with their tingling legs and breasts. They will then teem out of Charlotte on their appointed mission of Distract and Destroy. Thought it couldn't happen here did ya? 89% of Hollyweird and media vote Communist. What was once a grade B movie plot is being played out in DC, the networks, the big newspapers and the universities. Hussein is a turncoat leader that loathes the military (like Clinton), the white middle class, business, the "rich", the coal industry, the oil industry, Wall Street(where he wh*re$ around for contribution cash), the pharmaceuticals, Israel, the health care industry and anything in the way of his vision of a centralized dictatorship. Hussein is benevolent of course..look at that winning smile.....as he disables the republic one executive order at a time.

I will agree generally with you about the fact checkers. But,... the whole Romney campaign has been a fraud. It is kind of silly of the so called fact-checkers to pick out a few un-truths from the whole big steaming pile of bullshit. You are supporting a candidate who is dead against universal health care and at the same time is an architect of an existing universal health care system. You are supporting a candidate who is going after his opponent for applying cost cutting measures to Medicare, and is on the record claiming that he will cut Medicare. Okay. Lets not let some facts get in the way.

"You are supporting a candidate who is going after his opponent for applying cost cutting measures to Medicare"

Speaking of bullshit. There's plenty more where that came from.

"for applying cost cutting measures to Medicare"

Correction: President Obama and Congress passed a law that defunds Medicare and funnels the money to an enormous, destructive gov't make-over/take-over of our healthcare system.

"as he disables the republic one executive order at a time."

Well said. And flouts the Constitution in the process: he occupies the Executive Office. That branch executes the laws enacted by Congress. It's not supposed to take on legislative powers by refusing to enforce the laws (immigration, Defense of Marriage, what others?) duly passed by Congress.
