Accuracy of E-Verify

In her statement to Anchor Rising, one of the bases for Lieutenant Governor Roberts’ opposition to e-verify was accuracy. She is not the first to express such reservations. In fact, it is the most commonly voiced concern about the system.
Some easy research, however, would quickly allay these concerns. From the Department of Homeland Security:

Currently, approximately 96.1 percent of qualified employees are cleared automatically by E-Verify, and 99.6 percent of all work-authorized employees are verified without receiving a tentative nonconfirmation or having to take any type of corrective action.

The 96% results, are from the Cheney/Bush Dept of Homeland Security.
Remember “you are doin a great job Barney”
The same DHS that told us to buy, duck tape for our windows,
The same DHS that has my 91 year old father(a WW2 vet) on its “terrorist watch list”
Cheney/Bush are LIARS….
They said there is a 100% chance that Iraq had masive amounts of WMD, remember?

“But the government told me so….” that seems to only hold sway at certain times with conservatives.. like when it makes “certain” things easier to believe…

Yor are using 2008 stats from Jan 6 2009
when the Liars in Chief Cheney/Bush and
Rove/Limbaugh were in charge. And taking their talking points fron Tom Delay,Gingrich and Duke Cunningham.
Under the spiritual guidance of the good
Rev Fred Phelps and Glenn Beck
96% is a LIE
Just another right wingnut lie
Like “I am not a crook”
signed “Richard M Nixon”

“96% is a LIE
Just another right wingnut lie”
What kind of a LIE is “I support earmark reform” and “I’ll post legislation I support on the internet for public viewing for 72 hours before I sign it”? Are those just little fibs? Is there a difference?
And while we’re going back into history, well, maybe it doesn’t matter, but while we’re classifying lie types, which kind was “I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN.” Was that a right wingnut lie or something else? I’m just looking to keep all my lie types straight, that’s all.

1.) The quote is “you’re doing a great job BROWNIE”, not BARNEY.
2.) DUCT tape, not DUCK tape.

Duck tape is very effective on sealing quacks.

A 96.4% success rate implies a 3.6% failure rate. That’s truly awful. The Census puts Rhode Island’s private nonfarm employment at 440,797. Let’s assume the DHS’s rosiest numbers (even though, quite aside from outside political meddling, the Department has institutional incentives to puff up its own numbers). That would mean that, if E-Verify were expanded to every employer in the state, 15,869 qualified Rhode Islanders would not be given immediate work authorization from the Feds.
I don’t envy anyone who has to take “corrective action” with the Department of Homeland Security to work.

Why single out new workers as a special class? I know that’s what last year’s legislation did, but it doesn’t make any sense.
A 99.6% or 96.1% score would be great on a high school math test, but in the real world both of those numbers would create a tremendous number of false positives or false negatives.

To all those phony whiners about the inaccuracy of E Verify:why don’t you just admit that you’re running interference for illegal aliens.
E Verify is based on Social Security records-Social security is a very efficient operation-most E Verify problems occur as a result of name changes,as in marriage, not being submitted.
If any of you doubters ever get cancer like I have a few times, and the oncologist tells you the treatment works 90% of the time, just refuse it,because what the hell, you could be one of that 10% the treatment doesn’t work for.If you want the sure bet, just ignore it,and it’s 100% probable you’ll be taking a dirt nap.
