Most doctors have stopped taking Medicare patients? Well, a “universal coverage” addendum ought to take care of that. If doctors don’t accept Medicare patients, they won’t get any reimbursements from us! That’ll fix ’em.

Never mind that Kucinich had little to do with the bill that passed, other than his 11th hour capitulation. Contrast that to the hundreds of Republican amendments in the bill, but that won’t stop the uninformed (or those cynically exploiting them) from pretending this was the bill of the left.
Russ, if you read beyond the Leftist blog talking points, you would realize that 132 of 159 Republican amendments were purely technical in nature, for example typos.
It is not unusual for a blizzard of amendments in major legislation. That does not imply that Republicans were in favor of any of the fundamental ideas in the bill. It is also true that nearly every substantive amendment offered by Republican senators was rejected.
What ever happened to the oft-repeated promise to broadcast all of the negotiations on C-Span? Care to rationalize that hypocrisy for us?
