I love it!! It is interesting how the lib media never comments on the demeanor of Demmie pols. No party talking points available on that topic I guess.
Btw I’m still chuckling after hearing Gov. Carcieri make the following comment to Matt Allen last night…..”Anyone who would vote for him (Patrick Lynch for Governor) needs to have their head examined.” lol
Sheldon Whitehouse makes outlandish and vile statements and the leftists call it courageous.Carcieri tells the truth and they start having their time of the month.
The media is in love with the left. The Governor’s comment on Lynch was priceless and right. That guy is so dirty.
“Honest and refreshing” would call Governor Christie a sycophantic plutocrat who does not realize that government and business are inversely proportional to one another. Shrink government and business becomes too large. Shrink business and government gets too large. A word of caution about tipping the scales too far in one direction would have gone a long way towards amelioration. Instead this well connected son of a former governor tells us he’s a boor and that we’ll have to put up with boorish behavior from him until his term is completed.
This poor fellow obviously believes in free lunch. All of our problems will go away if only government will go away. In case your fellow bloggers missed it, that fat fellow is head of the government of his state and he’s telling us that he’s paving the way for capitulation to large business interests. That is exactly what he means when he uses the “Small Government” phrase, and it works, judging from the knee-jerk reactions on this blog. When’s the last time any of you ever cast a vote for AT&T, Exxon or British Petroleum?

@oldtimelefty – except that’s completely untrue. You can have a small government and big business without big business being bad. As long as you have a free market and those businesses act without coercion, everyone prospers.
The only time gov needs to step in is if businesses are attempting to use coercion to force out competitors or harm consumers.

You say it’s untrue. Evidence points otherwise. What in hell do you think is happening with BP and the Gulf oil spill? BP took shortcuts and by-passed safety requirements, a process made easy by eight years of Bush/Cheney oil government. Business got to dominate government in the extraction industries (Remember the recent Massey Mine disaster) and business ran roughshod over human lives, not to mention the environment.
You might have some coin in the argument if you occasionally pointed out some problems with big business, but you give it a pass and cry only about government.

No laughing matter for fat cats like Carcieri with his $200,000- $500,000 Cookson pension with healthcare insurance (He takes a healthcare buyback from the state.) if we elect a governor who will not allow the wealthy to evade paying their fair share of taxes to the state. Carcieri and his RISC crew fear that their obstruction of progressive solutions for the state’s economy is coming to a close.
Funny how the lefty commentators on this thread ignore the elephant in the NJ room, and instead divert to the old Marxists standby’s of capital vs. labor.
NJ is much like RI — decades of spiraling taxes precipitated by public sector unions (primarily CWA there, with of course the teachers unions not far behind) and Democrat politicians (and weak / moderate Republicans) kowtowing to them. The spiraling taxes and looming unfunded pension liabilities are causing the exodus of businesses and taxpayers.
NJ and RI are both examples of failed states, and the inevitable consequences of long-term public sector unionization and their puppet-Democrat rule.
The least of NJ’s problems is “big business.”

Not being duped by a right wing fat cat who played himself off as a moderate outsider with his folksey appeal did not turn to anger until he appealed to people’s worst tendencies of resentment of public sector workers and recently arrived peoples of Central America. He has seemed more interested in communicating with listeners on talk radio than to all the people of the state. He certainly has not ever made good not his pledge to bring jobs here but instead has contributed to the harsh negative tone many on this site relish. And I don’t know anything about anybody’s mother in law.
Phil-I guess you missed the nitwit Linc on 10 Newsconference some time back.Those horrid right wing ideologues Taracani and Rappleye merely asked him ordinary questions and he couldn’t make an intelligible answer-he kept mouthing”trai station”like he had autism or more likely,Asperger’s Syndrome.He then bragged about how his mother in law lived just long enough in Florida each year to avoid RI taxes.THEN he called for higher RI taxes.Whew!!Anyone who votes for him is brain dead.
PS:I don’t live in New Jersey-it has nothing to recommend it.My parents used to live there.It was always like taking a trip down the toilet to visit that place,but hey,they were my parents-too bad they got lured into retiring there.

My family on my fathers side is from Union City, NJ. My cousins live in Hoboken, Union City , and Woodbridge. They talk about the political corruption that exists there but would not move away for anything. Their father ran a successful oil delivery business there for decades. I visit there on a regular basis. I passed through recently on my way to Florida. I wished I had stayed with them in NJ instead of continuing on to the South but thats another story. Stay well.
