Married, single, wife, wifeless, children, childless, Jesus’ message of universal love is absolutely unaffected. I think it is only important in the Catholic faith. For about 1000 years, Latin Rite Catholics have maintained that a life of celibacy among the priests is Christ like (the 11th century rules are sometimes said to only re-enforce earlier beliefs). Eastern Rite Catholics are not so adamant. There is nothing fundamental to that faith which requires such celibacy.
