Reporter Banned from a National Press Club/Council on American Islamic Relations Event
This report from Fox News seems worthy of a raised eyebrow or two…
The Council on American Islamic Relations held a symposium at the National Press Club in Washington Tuesday. The Washington Times reports CAIR National Board Chairman Parvez Ahmed characterized Bush administration policies as driven by fear, and is irrational and divisive.Is there more to this story that’s not being reported? Or do reporter ejections from National Press Club events occur frequently enough to make this a non-event?
All this occurred after CAIR had banned some media outlets who allegedly had given it unfavorable coverage. A reporter from the Washington Times was thrown out after the meeting began.
Either way, banning reporters sure doesn’t seem to be consistent with the National Press Club’s stated mission…
The Club shall provide people who gather and disseminate news a center for the advancement of their professional standards and skills, the promotion of free expression, mutual support and social fellowship.
This episode at the NPC really should come as no suprise given the political makeup and amazing decline of standards we’ve witnessed within the journalistic community over the past few years. The emergence of Fox News and the continued power of talk radio has forced the public ‘outing’ of the liberal media. They can no longer hide their agendas because they no longer control the message.
NBC Pentagon reporter Jim Miklaczcewski gets 30 large to speak at the Providence Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and refers to John Edwards as “a loser,”, profiting in violation of an NBC News policy established after Chris Matthews rolled in big greenbacks during a corporate speaking tour. Mik is still going about business as usual.

Since when did thinking Edwards was a loser make somebody not a Liberal?
I’m sure Lou Dobbs and Bob Novak have worse things to say about Edwards. I’m more concerned about Mik living up to the stereotype of the big-time Washington journalist rolling over for cash from big corporate interests.
