Jon Scott to Run Against Patrick Kennedy
The Ocean State Republican is reporting that Jon Scott will run for Congress against Patrick Kennedy in Rhode Island’s first Congressional district this cycle…
Jon decided to gear up for a follow-up run for United States Congress (District 1), against Rep. Patrick “Patches” Kennedy. He is planning a very serious campaign which we are pleased to know will catch many completely off guard (esp. Patches). On Sunday afternoon, Jon received the overwhelming endorsement of the Rhode Island Republican Party Nominating Committee…for his candidacy for United States House of Representatives. The RIGOP State Central Committee as a whole will vote on that endorsement at its state convention on Thursday evening.
Great news!
Please post the URL of Scott’s website so I can link it on my web site here:

Hi!
I thought a Federal Hill businessman was running or might have for that district? Who is lined up for U.S. Senate? Also who was endorsed for the two National Committee spots?
Regards,
Scott
The endorsement by the R.I. Republican Nominating Committee of Jon Scott to run against Patrick Kennedy is akin to recommending that he walk through Death Valley with a pair of sunglasses and sandals. Politically, he ain’t coming out alive.
I am neither a fan of the Democrats nor of Rep. Kennedy. I’ll say it again, the only thing that makes Democrats look good in Rhode Island is the Rhode Island Republican Party.

Scott,
I think you just answered your own question as to why Joe Zuccolo didn’t receive the RIGOP Nominations Committee endorsement. He had expressed interest in running, and he was interviewed by the committee, however Jon won the endorsement convincingly.
Obviously, as a member of the Nominations Committee, I am well aware of the results of our voting. However, until it is made public by the RIGOP itself, I would feel uncomfortable sharing that information publicly. I will say however, that in regard to both the men’s and women’s races for RNC, both contests were heavily contested, requiring several rounds of balloting. It is extremely likely that we are going to have some real contests come the RIGOP Convention on Thursday night. It was definitely not a “rubber stamp” committee (which is a big change from past practice!).
PS I also know the answer to the US Senate question. It may or may not be answered tonight by said individual, but it will certainly be known by or on Thursday evening.
PPS I’m sure that Jon will be wearing extra sunscreen. 😉
Addendum to my last comment. I have received confirmation directly from said US Senate candidate this evening that he will be making his official announcement at the RIGOP convention on Thursday evening.

With the number of phone booths disappearing from our streets where is this convention being held?
Given she’s the Charlene Lima of the GOP, my money’s on Patricia Morgan announcing for U.S. Senate.
Wow, Phil and Drunken Sailor are on a rhetorical roll, but both are … incorrect.
The Rhode Island Republican Party State Convention will be held on Thursday, June 12, at Kirkbrae Country Club, 197 Old River Road, in Lincoln. Sign-in at 6:30pm, Call to Order at 7:00pm. Delegates and Alternates get preferential seating, but all are welcome to watch (I actually expect it to be something worth watching for a change). Typically, attendance has been in the 200+ person range. There should be plenty of media, too.
PS Patricia is one of the 5 announced candidates for RNC National Committeewoman. The TBA Senate candidate is a “he.” Not withstanding the Charlene comment, Pat still enjoys some level of support within the RIGOP.
Why is the Republican Convention in Rhode Island like a Shakespeare Play?…Both are Much Ado About Nothing.

Thanks for the info. I.m sure a good time will be had by all who attend. Sorry that I won’t be … you know … that pesky sock drawer and all that.
The GOP could take out Patches with a pro-choice woman, a 21st-century Ckaudine Schneider.
If the GOP had any serious candidates they would be on the ground and raising money.
This is just more of the same nonsense. Our hopes are with Jon Scott and TBD Senate candidate – not exactly Don Carcieri and Steve Laffey. Hang it up.
Drunken Sailor, I served with Charlene Lima. [Okay, I saw her on Capitol TV.] I knew Charlene Lima. [Still do.] Charlene Lima was a friend of mine. [Okay, not technically.]
Drunken S, Patricia Morgan is no Charlene Lima.
Hi!
I suspect and certainly hope Patricia Morgan will eliminated in the race for national committeewoman. That will be something I and a number of others will personally enjoy. The real question is this: If Patricia Morgan loses in the National Committee race on the GOP side, will she look in a mirror who greatly advanced her own comeuppance?
Regards,
Scott
P.S. Good RI GOP slogan “Sorry Pat, We Had Enough Already!”
All Jon Scott has to do is get a candidates’ agreement that they will participate in at least one debate in each county in Rhode Island, and that each candidate will drive themselves all the way to and from each debate.
Then nature will take its course.
I am a fairly new voter, a pro-life, Jimmy Carter, Republican. So far I cannot find any real information on Jon Scott concerning statement by The Lord Jesus Christ, who said “”Let those who have eyes to see with see; and let those who have ears to hear with hear””, which definitely requires that we help new souls to develop full term and come out to live.
Where does Jon Scott stand concerning Right To Life?
