Exposing Yet Another Crypto Right-Wing Stooge in State Government
The Democratic Primary campaign for Governor is on over at RI Future, and that blog’s owner and creator Matt Jerzyk is already taking shots at Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts — for being too far to the right!
Well, we now have our second (likely) 2010 gubernatorial candidate ([Elizabeth Roberts], in addition to Frank Caprio) who believes that the rich shouldn’t have to do their fair share in mending our budget woes.
As though more proof was needed to show what a bunch of wacko’s troll on RI Future, here you have a far-left socialist being branded too far right.
I really think that the RI Future crowd takes an issue, tries to think of the most absurd, idiotic viewpoint one could conjure up, and then puts it forth as though they believe it. It really must be a spoof kinda site, because no sane, stable individual could really produce the bizarre thoughts they put forth on a daily basis.
Somewhere, Linc Chafee is smiling. Given that the two most likely Dem primary winners (Caprio with the $ advantage and Roberts as the beneficiary of a crowded field) want to maintain tax cuts for the rich, as I presume Laffey would, Linc’s got an opening he can drive a Hummer through.
One of the benefits of being “rich” (a very subjective term), is that you usually don’t “have” to do anything you don’t want to do. Being “rich” means you generally have more choices than most … primary among them, not being used by those who aren’t. The rich don’t have to do anything to mend “our budget woes.” If some east side liberals want to voluntarily chip in, be our guest.
All comments miss the mark completely, which is: such criticism is blatant sexism.

The general attitude at RIF seems overwrought and painting everything as a great crisis.Assigning the same value and urgency to nearly every situation must get tiring.

That is a silly statement, by the way. The “rich” (a term definitely subject to definition, as Will pointed out) do more in this state than in many others. Further, trying to get them to do more is only going to drive them away.
Apparently the “rich” don’t do enough, and the “poor” are suffering for it.
Here’s an idea I hope the Bob Walsh’s and Pat “I struggle with basic math” Crowley can latch on to: “If you don’t like being poor and it is soooo easy being rich, GO BECOME RICH”.
The RICH have it easy, right? They don’t work hard. They don’t take risks. They can never pay enough taxes. They don’t create jobs and employ other people. It’s so easy being rich, stop being poor and simply become rich.
By the way, RIF in business stands for Reduction In Force. Wouldn’t it be nice if that is what it stood for over at RI Future?
