Tim Russert
Via Dan Yorke, the New York Post (and MSNBC confirms) that “Meet the Press” host Tim Russert died of a heart attack today.
MORE: Needless to say, this is simply a shock, especially to those of us tuned into the world of politics and punditry. No one can dispute that Russert was one of, if not THE, top political/talk journalists of our day (and he could write, too). He’ll be missed.
A giant has fallen. I am a HUGE fan.
Dammit. He HAD to go down in DC, didn’t he- truly one of the worst places on God’s green Earth to have a heart attack in. Their EMS system is pathetic.

One of my favorites. Just learned of it here. I had photos taken with him which one is great shot of him and me at a GOP National Convention.
A ardent Buffalo Bills fan and from all accounts a great guy, personable, smart, and a professional. I am saddened.

A huge loss for a medium sorely lacking the fairness and professionalism of Tim Russert. How horribly ironic for Tim to go just before Fathers Day given his close relationship with his Dad big Russ and his own son Luke. Prayers to the Russert family. A terrible loss for them and a sad loss for us in this big neighborhood called America.
Russert dealt with every important political figure in the US,often in the role of interrogator.Bumping up against those enormous egos had to be very stressful.He certainly left his imprint on Meet the Press.I think he was pretty evenhanded in putting the pressure on politicians.

Sgt. John D. Aragon, 22, of Antioch, Calif., died June 12 in Kadamiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Whay aren’t the news channels filled with this? I hate when something like this happens the journalist gets coverage like he’s some sort of hero and we’re going to be bombarded with this all weekend long.
The profession of journalism has lost a true pro.
Russert was a lawyer who worked in senior positions for Mario Cuomo and Daniel Patrick Moynihan, but you’d never know his party affiliation from his journalism. Indeed, the only partisanship that Russert showed was on behalf of his beloved Buffalo Bills.
He asked tough questions of everyone, but always seemed to maintain a sense of optimism in both our country and the democratic process.
I watched today as Keith Olbermann attempted to report on Russert’s death and never was it more apparent what the profession of journalism had lost.
It is truly a sad day for everyone who cares about our nation and its political process.
I live in a retirement home. Whenever Tim
was on TV we were all eyes and ears. He was the greatest. We feel like we’ve lost a member of our family. He was truly a modern day saint.
