The Next Senate President?
Following upon the defeat of Joseph Montalbano by Edward O’Neill (I) of Lincoln, rumors are flying that Senate Majority Leader Teresa Paiva-Weed (D), she who denied the will of a substantial majority in the House and the Senate by killing the e-verify legislation during the last two General Assembly sessions, is slated to be the next Senate President.
Members of the Senate will choose their next President. Seniority is nice and all. But shouldn’t leaders listen to the wishes of the rank and file? Senator Paiva-Weed has not shown such an inclination. Further, is it even possible to view a vote for Senator Paiva-Weed as anything other than a vote against legal immigration, against legal employment, against non-exploitative working conditions, against fair wages, against law-abiding employers?
In short, isn’t the senator who votes for Senator Paiva-Weed voting against everyone in the state, citizens and more recent arrivals, who follows our laws and does things right?
last year she was interviewed by john hazen white jr. she had ni idea that his company was one of the largest employers in the state.. no idea.

I am just so depressed about the Obama election and it shows the electoral college has NOTHING to do with the popular vote. The electoral college is the playing field of the incumbent elected where the game of elections is played. Don’t kid yourself that you have a voice.
And so it goes to reason that the popular opinion polls that supported the Governor’s Executive Order for eVerify means nothing to the General Assembly who insist on playing THEIR game of cherry picking which bills will and will not pass the Senate.
I AM JUST SO PISSED OFF ABOUT THIS AND I’M MAD AS HELL AND I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Add me to the list of citizens of the state who are firmly against the naming of Sen. Paiva-Weed as the new President of the State Senate. For her actions this past year in blocking the E-Verify bill, she is not worthy of elevation to an even higher level of power and responsibility. She has already abused her power and shows no sense of responsibility to the people of the state.
If the senators elect Paiva-Weed as President of the Senate, it shows that the 26 senators that she stuck it to regarding the E-Verify Bill have no balls (in plain English), they should hang their heads in shame. They should be acting in the interest of American Citizens that voted for them. The majority of the people of Rhode Island want this bill, but it seems she favors the illegal lobbyist; such as, the ACLU, Progresso Latino etc. The Majority Leader Connors is nothing more than an extension of Montalbano who was rejected by the voters. Connors is a lawyer in Montalbano’s office.
Fed-up Buddy
With Paiva-Weed as Senate President, Montalbano will still be running the Senate. Paiva-Weed killed E-Verify twice as Majority Leader. The individual Senators elect the President of the Senate. They let themselves be bought off for favorable treatment or a Committee position. Didn’t they take an oath? America and American citizens first! If E-Verify dies in the Senate again, the Senators allowed it to happen.
I think this last election has effectively put the idea of E-Verify on the back burner,never to see light of day again.Paiva-Weed’s selection over much better choices available and the squeaking by of the detestable Charles Levesque are bad omens.
Nationally,expect a massive amnesty with no concomitant increase of border security,or interior enforcement.I don’t even think an Obama administration will pursue alien criminals with much enthusiasm.
However,due to the rotten economy,high unemployment,and Obama’s determination to end our involvement in Iraq,I don’t believe “comprehensive immigration reform”the phrase so beloved of illegal alien advocates,will be an early order of business for the Congress.
Boh immigration and gun control are two third rail issues for Obama because he cannot afford splits in the Democratic party.
The good old boys just may put her in, That will give them someone to blame if the S..hits the fan.
Funny thing……. we have high unenployment but I haven’t seen 1 illegal without a job??
Looks like she’ll just be keeping the seat warm while Montalbano plots his return. (Not that she still won’t be harmful – she’s the Queen of the Welfare Queens and Anchor Babies.)
The real Senate President for the next two years may well be that guy from Montalbano’s office who is slated to be Majority Leader, whose mouth in turn will operate in accordance with Montalbano’s hand that’ll be running up inside his dummies mouth.
