Cosmic Dark Flow (Not the Pres-Elect’s Charisma)
One can say with some certainty that there will always be something new to discover in reality:
On the outskirts of creation, unknown, unseen “structures” are tugging on our universe like cosmic magnets, a controversial new study says.
Everything in the known universe is said to be racing toward the massive clumps of matter at more than 2 million miles (3.2 million kilometers) an hour—a movement the researchers have dubbed dark flow.
The presence of the extra-universal matter suggests that our universe is part of something bigger—a multiverse—and that whatever is out there is very different from the universe we know, according to study leader Alexander Kashlinsky, an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.
Unless you are a Republican in which case you deny reality so that there is nothing for you to discover.

A speed dwarfed by the flight of the voters from the Republican Party.
Justin,
Tell me what you felt during the Palin-Couric interview.
OldTimeLefty
Justin, I don’t understand how the post relates to Obama’s charisma. Are you saying is charisma seems to fall under another scientific discovery? Or that his charisma is not based on science or reality unlike this discovery? Or just an opportunity for OTL to respond with some Limbaugh/Coulter-esque political zingers?
OTL, 47% of the people voted Republican despite a charmless candidate, an extremely unpopular incumbent president and in the midst of an unpopular war and a terrible economic disaster under a Republican administration. Keep dreaming.
And tell me how you felt when Obama kept moving to the center during his press interviews during the campaign. Be honest.
I’m concerned with Obama’s appointment of Rahm Emmanuel, a man whose politics give me great pause.
I have said from the beginning of Obama’s campaign that I wished he would tack further left, but I realize that he is the best we can get, and that the Bush people, along with much of the Republican Party, had to be removed from office and that he was the agent to accomplish the task.
It’s true, every once in a while I wince at an Obama play towards the center, but I do trust the man and am willing to give him a bit of slack. I believe his heart is in the right place and that he truly sees and cares about the sufferings of the underclass. We differ a bit on how to go about relieving the suffering.
OldTimeLefty
I asked for honesty and you provided it in a coherent tone. Thanks for that. And you are correct in that we do differ on what constitutes suffering for any person regardless of not only class but any categorization and also how to go about relieving the suffering.
msteven,
No direct relation. I thought the science article was interesting and the title was just a play on topics — the notion of an unknown cosmic force pulling the universe toward it being the same something that drew the masses to Obama gave me a chuckle.
These discovers are proof modern cosmology is a lot of conjecture with little proof. In mathematics it take years sometimes hundreds of years to prove a conjecture but when it happens the whole foundation of mathematics is stronger. Science is full of conjecture but no one want to take the time or spend their life finding the proof. Einstein was the last to search for a proof and he died trying. Scientist learned a lesson from that and decided to just make statement with no real conceptual proof. Data can support any but anything is not real.
