Gates to Stay On As Secretary of Defense

For anyone theorizing that Rhode Island Senior Senator Jack Reed might become Secretary of Defense in time for either Patrick Lynch or Frank Caprio (but most likely Lynch) to opt to run in a special Senate election, instead of for Governor, the dream is now dead. From the Associated Press

Defense Secretary Robert Gates, a holdover from the Bush administration, will remain in his Cabinet post for at least another year, his spokesman said Thursday.
Gates, who has said he considers himself a Republican, told President Barack Obama in December that he would stay on at least through the end of 2010, Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell told The Associated Press.

Hmmmm, a year from now we will have a new Governor. If that Governor is a Democrat he can appoint whomever he wants. Lynch, like Whitehouse, can be put on a holding pattern by appointing him Federal Attorney.

Gates is probably staying out of concern that Obama will appoint another traitor like Eric Holder.that would just about do this country in.
You know,Obama goes along with(promotes?)the evisceration of the CIA being carried forward by Holder with the Greek chorus of the ACLU behind him(John Adams Project)and then he goes in national TV to trash our intelligence agencies. No kidding-you keep stepping on someone’s neck and then berate them for having a sore throat. If the elections of 2010 don’t stop Obama’s agenda, then folks,we’re gonna have some ugly things going on in this country and I hope it doesn’t play out that way.

“Gates is probably staying out of concern that Obama will appoint another traitor like Eric Holder”
Interesting point. Though I don’t think Holder is a traitor; just very misguided and clearly the wrong man for the job.

“…just very misguided and clearly the wrong man for the job.”
Monique I was thinking the very same thing about Obama. This Presidency is becoming a complete disaster. It’s an incompetent mess everwhere you look.
Holder a traitor?? Joe the fact that I and millions of other Americans need to think about the merits of that label with regard to Eric Holder or any member of this or any other President’s team is big trouble…..for them.
Your comments on Holder are well taken and given his history are on the mark. As a nation we will rue the day Obama was elected. He’s a tragic mix of marxist ideology and pure incompetence and surrounds himself with like minds.
We will rue the day…..

I don’t throw the wordm “traitor” around lightly.Newt Gingrich, whatever else one thinks of him,is no dope, and was Speaker of the House. He said as much about Holder on O’Reilly recently. He cannot explain Holder’s actions in any rational way.
I don’t subscribe to the “birther” accusations, but I will say this:Obama was born in Hawaii, but spent important periods of his younger days being raised outside the US in a milieu that did not inculcate American values by a mother who resented America and was a self-hating White person. Those things, plus Obama’s relationship with Frank Marshall Davis,an avowed communist as his mentor, all combined to produce a President who places the “international community”above his own country.
The same phenomenon can be seen with “red diaper babies”who never left New York until maybe they got jobs in academia and government elsewhere.Read David Horowitz'”Radical Son” for a very honest and heart wrenching view of this type of upbringing.
Maybe Obama can’t help being what he is,but I believe Holder is consciously trying to get revenge on a country he hates.
I am proud that America could elect a Black president, something no “progressive” European country would ever do(hear that Klaus on Kmareka, lover of European “values”?),but I am also sickened by the man such a groundbreaking step was wasted on.
If Holder was an aberration,it would be one thing, but come on-we have Van Jones,Cass Sunstein, etc all through this administration.Al Qaeda can’t do half the damage the Obama agenda can.The people of this country were suckered by a combination of resentment of Bush, lack of confidence in palin as a second hat,a very smooth orator(as long as there’s a teleprompter),and a very amorphous concept of “hope and change”-sounded great, how does it feel now?
