The “RI Recipe for a New Way Forward” (per L. Chafee)

Today’s Yesterday’s ProJo Political Scene reports that the following recipe was handed out, attached to a large candy cane, to guests at a party recently held by Governor-elect Chafee. (It was Senate President Paiva-Weed who shared hers with the Political Scene.)

“One 10-pound satchel of HONESTY … A gallon of LISTENING … Three quarts of RESPECT… A large spray of NEGOTIATION … A dollop of open DIALOGUE … A broad VISION with attention to DETAILS.
And always, always a dash of GOOD CHEER.”

Read the fine print. It tastes like crap.

“One 10-pound satchel of HONESTY”
Like having no idea what taxes he paid and where he took a homestead exemption?
“A gallon of LISTENING”
Like his time with Terry Gorman?
“Three quarts of RESPECT”
Like meeting face to face with the outgoing Governor about the transition?
“A large spray of NEGOTIATION”
Like in his decision to rescind the eVerify executive order?
“A dollop of open DIALOGUE”
Just a dollop. We don’t want too much of openness.
“A broad VISION with attention to DETAILS.”
Like increasing the state’s tax system without cutting spending first, exactly the opposite of the campaign promise.

Those are almost exactly the words used by the teachers union propagandists in the East Providence campaign.
Not a good sign for private-sector Rhode Islanders who try to make their livings honestly, without corrupt special political deals.
Rhode Islanders have a choice in 2011: be afraid, or be vigilant.

What’s with all the Chaffee bashing? I’ve heard for years that the governor of Rhode Island is nothing but a powerless figurehead.

What makes Chafee’s aw shucks lameness so funny is that he’s actually quite petty and vindictive, very arrogant, highly ignorant and has hired every insider hack found here in RI.
Who does Linc think he’s kidding with this nonsense??
Btw you can bet Paiva Weed showed this to the ProJo with eyes rolling and a “can you believe this” smirk on her face.

I thought Trainor attibuted the recipe to Mrs. Chafee. She had it printed up and tied to candy canes for Linc to hand out to his new BFFs, because he never could memorize all of that.
It’s going to be interesting to see what Mrs. Linc is going to bring to the office.

“I’ve heard for years that the governor of Rhode Island is nothing but a powerless figurehead.”
C’mon Michael, you’re smarter than that. It is a powerless position when the person in the Gov’s seat disagrees with much of what the GA likes to do. When that person is agreeable to the GA, then he can get quite a bit done. Gov Chafee is still not as powerful as Fox or TPW, but he’ll be able to do more than Carcieri or Almond. But I don’t know that it’s a good thing.

Tim-you’re ight,
Chafee gets furious at the mere thought that he is being challenged in his judgement by one of his “lessers”.
His is the arrogance of being born to wealth and privilege and being told all his life that he was the possessor of an inherent right to oversee us poor benighted souls.
Kinda like Sheldon Whitehouse.
The two of them wouldn’t make a good sized pimple on a real leader’s ass.

Right you are riborn. Lame is as lame does.
Patrick you’re right on. Just look at Obama and the damage done working with Pelosi and Reid. This country will never recover from the massive debt crater they’ve dug. Never!
Joe what’s going to be really interesting is how the media at large handles Gov. Aw Shucks. Chafee is intolerant of all points of view that don’t fit with his and that intolerance is in the form of arrogant smugness. Yet he spins that he’s a uniter. lol Let’s see who beyond talk radio calls him on his hypocrisy.

I know one thing with certainty: Don Carcieri is going to very popular 6 months from now.

You want some arrogance? Watch the WPRI12 News Makers on their website from December 5th. Pay particular attention to Arlene Violets question about Kenny Alston practicing without a license and Chafee’s response. Now that’s some serious arrogance.

max-I caught that.Anything Chafee does is not to be questioned by mere groundlings. The rules don’t apply to that disgusting addled nitwit.

I have never met the governor-elect and certainly cannot speak for him, but if I were in his shoes and reading what’s posted above, I’d be laughing my head off…just as I’m sure Carcieri did whenever he read RIF.
The worse mistake the new governor can make is to take the above criticisms seriously. Public life requires one to either ignore such response or laugh in its face (I prefer to laugh, but I’m not an elected official).

bella-you sound like a wannabe elitist.
Good luck-be one of Chafee’s sycophants.
He probably is laughing his empty head off.I wonder how he’ll be laughing when the state collapses.
I don’t know if you work bella, but hopefully if you do,one of Chafee’s precious illegal aliens can put you on unemployment by taking your job for less.

Ah, elitist…one of those words we love to throw around like political correctness. To me, the elitists are the folks our government officials are always giving corporate welfare to.
The threat of any of us losing our jobs to illegal aliens is quite overstated (I don’t live as a slave to other people’s fears). I just find it funny that people complain about the folks with different skin color or language and not the Caucasians who are illegally employing them. And if Chafee’s employing illegals, I have no problem going after him.

bella-you are pretty ignorant making assumptions about racist attitudes, but it would be a total waste of time to explain anything to you because you obviously have your little phony left wing mantra firmly in place.
For what it’s worth, employers of illegals should face fines and jail time. They aren’t all Caucasian either.
Illegal aliens aren’t all “people of color”,but in your make believe grasp of reality that probably hasn’t occured to you.
In any event,I’m the only “Caucasian” in my immediate family,so go cram it and learn what you’re talking about before you start a rant.

As long as Joe’s around, neither I nor anyone else will be starting a rant. Joe insures we don’t have that opportunity.

The “recipe” is pure political pap of the sort handed out by politicians of everystripe. They are firm in the belief that it would please many and offend none.

Anyone see the newest recipe Linc brought out and handed to his cabinet yesterday at Alton Jones? Allegedly something he wrote during his working days in junior management.
