Oh Darn – Guess We Have To Lower the Federal Tax Rate

even federal employees are apparently finding it difficult to stay current.

About 98,000 federal, postal and congressional employees owed $1.03 billion in unpaid taxes at the end of fiscal 2010, according to records provided by the Internal Revenue Service.

No word on whether they also canvassed President Obama’s cabinet for tax compliance.

On average, that is approximately $13,250. Of course, the IRS probably reorts it with fines and penalties included. That could easily double the sums.

Reminds me that President Nixon and his wife, Pat, paid just $793 in income taxes in 1970 and $878 in 1971 and received a tax refund totaling more than $131,000 for those two years.
“People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. Well, I am not a crook.”
Nixon ultimately agreed to pay $476,000 in back taxes.

Phew, good thing you let us know, Sammy. I’ll sure as hell never vote for Dick Nixon now!

sammy-it sounds like you would trade Governors given the chance.
Brewer would probably do OK here, and Chafee would probably be found tied to a saguaro being chewed on by a Gila monster in AZ.
Oh,and be sure to vote against Nixon you ass.

sammy-I voted for Nixon twice.
The first time was also the first time I voted. It was by absentee ballot from Vietnam. You like calling people out as chickenhawks-don’t try it with me champ.
BTW it was a Democrat,LBJ who lied us into that mess going from an “advisory mission”to a full-blown war.

Seems to me that LBJ basically invented the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident”
that gave him a pretext and a congressional resolution permitting ground forces in Viet Nam.
It is now acknowledged that the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” never occurred.

This is long, but meant as a rejoinder to Sammy; whose memory seems so selective. Others may enjoy it. A tip of the hat to Howie Carr of the Boston Herald. “How profoundly America has changed since January 2009. I was pondering this the other night during the State of the Union address. Did you know that our elite military units like the Navy SEALs are now examples of America at its absolute finest? Why, wasn’t it just a few years ago that Sen. Dick Durbin was comparing these very same troops to the Khmer Rouge and Joe Stalin’s Red Army? What used to be “Dick Cheney’s hit squad” is now a beacon of freedom. But now of course the president is a Democrat. When Durbin spoke a Republican resided in the White House. Remember when Theo Epstein snubbed Republican George W. Bush when the rest of the Red Sox went to the White House after the 2007 World Series? Nobody said boo. Now Bruins goalie Tim Thomas does the same thing to our PC president and — hey, somebody get a rope! Since January 2009, natural disasters are no longer the personal fault of the president. Now that Obama is president, Gen. “Betrayus” is once again Gen. Petraeus, the greatest American military genius since MacArthur, no make that U.S. Grant. George W. Bush played 30 rounds of golf in eight years and it was dereliction of duty. Obama’s played 80 in three years and it’s a well-deserved rest from his terrible burden of world leadership. On Jan. 20, 2009, all the homeless people went home. Inflation ended that same day. No longer do dying Americans have to travel to Canada to buy affordable prescription drugs. The Tea Party — violent rhetoric. Occupy Wall Street and the publicly defecating hippies… Read more »

Those were excellent of the partisan hypocrisy that is so detrimental to having a reasonable debate.
Thank you Warrington.

Warrington-great find.Howie Carr is like Dennis Miller sans the humor.
I mentioned this to Helen Glover this AM-real 1984 stuff.
Today’s “journalists”are largely a pile of turds(with some exceptions).

Hey Joe,
Dennis Miller is like Dennis Miller, but without the humor.
