The Cranston City Republican Committee Invites You to Examine Mayor Michael Napolitano’s Record

The Cranston Republican City Committee has put up a website questioning Mayor Michael Napolitano’s commitment to promises he made during his campaign and since taking office.
This sequence of events listed compiled from the site is particularly illuminating…

  • Mayor Napolitano’s budget has raised local property taxes “by over 5%, nearly the maximum allowed by state law”…
  • …while proposing ” no additional aid to Cranston Schools”…
  • …and underfunding the city pension plan by about $900,000…
  • …but still appropriating $815,000 for artificial turf at Cranston Stadium.
How long do you think it will be before Mayor Napolitano blames the city’s continuing pension problems on the property tax cap, instead of his own decisions?

I agree with what you say. You should be aware though that the northern tip of Bald Hill Rd. IS in Cranston.

Good job, Cranston GOP. Information and sunlight.
It really is not his fault. He never recovered from all the mold and allergens in his office.

You know, I suspected that Napolitano was not being forthcoming with things in the past, but just dismissed it as a newcomer. When I see ALL of the things that he has misled us on, lined up like on that website, I just get a creepy feeling about him. I think he is a total phony, liar. He is just like all the other scumbags in this state that say one thing and do another. I can’t wait to see him voted out of office. If Charles Manson runs against him I am voting for Manson.

“I think he is a total phony, liar.”
He’s an attorney. I knew he was a blatant liar when he promised to stop the concrete plant after it was already far too late to stop it.

Cranston can’t elect a decent mayor of either party.

Tough to argue the point, but it does look juvenile and petulant…Maybe a thoughtout argument would work better, especially since the only republican on the council voted FOR the fire contract

Cranston Moderate, how more thought out can it be than to cite references from the mainstream media that detail his rhetoric and his actions? There’s a lot more at issue here than just the fire contract, too.

Thoughtout, in having a solution to these issues. Sorry I didn’t clarify…I want to hear a solution not just the wrongs.
As far as the fire contract, it is a major issue. Not just one of them and the republicans supported that terrible deal through their only elected official.
Fung in ’08 will win by much more than 70 votes if this continues

CM,
Point taken.
The Cranston Republicans did NOT support Barone on that vote. In fact, they spoke against it (http://www.projo.com/ri/cranston/content/WB_barone_07-06-07_4969GOO.3310ba1.html).
It’s nice to see we agree on a big Fung victory in 2006!!
