Let’s Not Spin the Spin, Mr. Donnis

Over on Not for Nothing, Ian Donnis chortles about Hillary: The Movie, noting:

Among the things we learn from Ann Coulter and a host of other putative experts is that Hillary is “worse than Nixon.” OK!

I’m disinclined to rush to the movie’s defense as anything other than a political production, but this particular selectivity of information is indicative of the difficulty that folks on the Left and Right have communicating. Ian narrows in on the most easily dismissed commentator (among his own crowd), Ann Coulter, and the most outrageous comment (among his own crowd), which she didn’t even say. Names like Michael Barone and Larry Kudlow (let alone Barack Obama) would presumably carry less of the ha-what-trash factor for liberals. Throwing out the Nixon cliché — as the gold standard for political corruption (outside of RI, anyway) — avoids uncomfortable discussion about just how manipulative and deceitful the Clintons actually are.

As long as Ann Coulter is taken seriously by conservatives (i.e., introducing Romney at last year’s National Conservative Political Action Conference) and gets face time with alleged liberal Chris Matthews on a regular basis, I’ve no problem with critics making hay on her.
By contrast, Michael Moore would not be allowed within 1,000 feet of any Clinton event.

“alleged liberal Chris Matthews”
Alleged? He used to work for Tip O’Neal. Big “D” from MA.
That’s like saying
“alleged liberal George Stephanopoulos”

Alleged liberal Matthews led the jihad against Bill Clinton in ’98 and Gray Davis in ’03.
Hey, Reagan was once a Democrat.

The answer to that is “Liberals can hate people, too.”

Bill Maher?

Democratic presidential candidates and high-ranking party figures do not distribute nearly the legitimacy on Maher that their GOP counterparts do on Coulter.
Although. ironically, Maher did play a role in making Coulter the phenomenon she became. He provided a forum for her antics, too, back in his ABC days.

I have to laugh at the Left’s adoration of the felonious former First Couple. They are nothing more but bought and paid for creatures of the globalist corporations, Zionists and military industrial complex; every bit as much as the Bush/Cheney crowd. Socially liberal neo-cons in short.

Oh, people are catching on to them – it explains Bill’s hysterical reaction to Obama. Where Bill Clinton was once something fresh, he now sounds tired and cranky.

Justin,
The blame here belongs with Coulter for her ravings, not those who dismiss her. If you want to debate the Clintons, then admonish those like Coulter who add nothing to the debate and those on the right who adore her ilk.

Wow. The comments here keep getting better and better. Mike fears the globalist corporations and Zionists. Better watch out there Mike, those black helicopters are coming for you tonight.

Ann Coulter serves her purpose: energizing conservatives to act. She’s a red meat conservative, not an Ivy tower intellectual speaking to other intellectuals. She does things the way she does, because she knows the whores who run the media will cover every second of it.
Chris Matthews is a big old liberal. He just didn’t like Bill and Hill because he didn’t perceive them as liberal enough, nor particularly genuine people. Besides Tip O’Neil, didn’t he also work for Jimmy Carter?
If the globalist/ Zionist/ Illuminati/ New World Order types were really as powerful as they are alleged by some to be, I doubt they’d be using such antiquated technology as helicopters to enforce anything on anyone. When they start zapping cities with death rays from their reverse engineered UFOs, then give me a call.

If Ann Coulter is serving a purpose by “energizing” conservatives, then you really are in trouble. The fact that her rants play well to the base is neither a good defense of her or much of a compliment to the base.

We’re reaching back 25 years to try to paint Matthews as a liberal – comical. And he railed against the Clintons during Monicagate as dangerously liberal.
Matthews has all the conviction of Mitt Romney. ‘Nuff said.

U.S. Grant (Republican) was involved in a scandalous administration. Warren G. Harding (Republican) was involved in a scandalous administration. Richard Nixon (Republican) was involved in a scandalous administration. George W. Bush (Republican) is involved in a scandalous administration. Gee, I wonder if there’s a constant here???
