Taxes Even a Right Winger Could Love

Kathy Santos, of Riverside, proposes some new taxes to which I find it difficult to object:

Perhaps there are some new taxes that should be considered, though, ones that would not be such a burden to businesses and citizens:
Incumbent politician tax
Legislative grant tax
Union dues tax
Legislative slush fund fee
Campaign donation fee
Legislative leadership top-of-the-line vehicle tax
“Massage” parlor, prostitution, adult-entertainment tax
Gambling tax
Shady lobbyist fee
Corruption tax
Legislative license-plate tax
Kickback tax
Windfall tax on buybacks for vacation and sick time
Health insurance buyback fee

Perhaps we could add a “strategic public retirement tax” to cover those who retire because they want to get out before their unsustainable deals are modified. The list could go on (and on), I’m sure.

Introducing The Leftist Hypocrites Scumbag Act of 2009. This will apply to all offioceholders who oppose school choice for working people, shrilly proclaim their “great support for the public schools”; and send THEIR OWN kids to elite private schools. Yes, this means you Liz Roberts, Whitehouse, the Lynch’s, Caprio’s, Murphy, Montalbano, Chafee, Sapisley, Farmer, etc., etc., etc.

“The list could go on”
How about a 50% tax on the difference between an ethics fine and the income derived by the politician that led to the ethics violation?
So, to take an example strictly at random, if a Leader legislator made $400,000 from – just picking any corporation as a fer instance – G-Tech and his ethics fine was – again, just pulling numbers out of the air – $10,000, his tax liability under this tax code chapter would be $195,000.
