A Tea Party for the Ocean State
It’s becoming a frequently asked question of me, when I’m going about my business, when Rhode Island will host its own tea party. Well, I just received word that Ocean State Policy Research Institute has put up a Web site to promote just such an event on April 15th (tax day) 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the State House:
On February 19th, 2009, Rick Santelli spoke out on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange during a CNBC broadcast and expressed the frustration we are all feeling. Spawned of that “rant” was the National Tax Day Tea Party – and when Colleen Conley emailed the national group and said, “Rhode Island should do something like that,” she had no idea how many other people were thinking the same thing.
Make your voice be heard on April 15th
Please join us as we send a message to our elected leaders that THEY WORK FOR US!
We the People are tired of irresponsible spending and actions taken by the state and federal government which threatens the financial health of the United States of America. We refuse to allow them to mortgage our children’s and grandchildren’s futures.
We demand accountability for their actions!
Rick Santelli…champion of the oppressed CEOs and six-figure bonus recipients.
The man has accomplished something positive, though: he’s given me a greater appreciation of John Stossel. If only he could get that poor, sweet Erin Burnett the seven-digit job with perks she’s been angling for and dying for,
They couldn’t have picked a worst time to schedule this event. I hope they reconsider and schedule this from 3pm – 6pm. If they want maximum attendance, they need to accommodate the working stiff.
Unfortunately decent working people are to busy with their families, churches, jobs, businesses, etc. to ever turn out at these rallies.
The moochers, looters, maggots, cronies, wefare bums, “advocates” and millionaire Marxists can always be counted on though.
And ….slowly…the RI Left cooks the Golden Goose.
I’d love to attend but TaxPayer is right.
There are actually two different tea parties on April 15th in RI, the one in Providence from 12-3pm and there’s also one from 4-7pm at the corner of Post and Airport Roads in Warwick (RIGOP is hosting that). I’ll probably make the second, but not the first myself.
Why don’t you just combine both from 4 to 7 in Providence? Have Dan York broadcast live from the event. Start at the Statehouse and march down to Waterplace Park and throw empty card board boxes into the water. Very symbolic. Great TV/photo-op. Get RISC and the college republicans on board. You need a lot of people to show up to have an impact. Standing in front of a strip mall in Warwick is not gonna do it.
