The Comedy Duo of Whitehouse and Reed

When Monique brought up our liveblogging from the healthcare community dinner hosted by Senators Whitehouse and Reed, on the Matt Allen Show, the conversation drifted toward the oddity of the Senators tackling this issue, locally as a team. Matt’s thesis is that Reed doesn’t care about the issue, while Whitehouse has all the background, yet he still knows that he’ll take a political hit by not appearing to care. Frankly, having watched both events, now, I have to say that I think he’s going to take a political hit based on the stark contrast in facility between him and his junior senator. I usually spare no expletive in describing Whitehouse, but to my knowledge he hasn’t pocketed millions in contributions to his “campaign”fund from entities which he has oversight on due to committee assignment.Reed has gone in the tank with the banking industry as far as I’m concerned andhas abdicated any claim to respectability.
Whitehouse bluntly stated he was in favor of licenses for illegals, which illustrated his qualities as a dolt.Reed hemmed and hawed and couldn’t squeeze out an intelligible answer on the subject.Reed also wouldn’t commit to a Presidential candidate until Obama had the nomination sewed up.Reed is a weasel.Whitehouse is merely a blockhead.

“Blockhead and Weasel?”
Sounds like a decent idea for a cartoon on Nickelodeon!

Nouveau riche slime & noblesse oblige slime… or, as I’ve been referring to them, Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy.

Don’t blame me – I voted for Chafee. Linc would’ve certainly brought a different perspective to the issue.
If you’re tired of Democratic talking points, well, Shel didn’t walk into the Senate with an AK-47 and take that Senate seat by force.
I just find it ironic when I hear people here complain about there not being enough Republican elected officials, but (Carcieri excepted) proceed to blast the hell out of almost any Republican who manages to get popularly elected in this state.

Rhody,
I’m curious. What different perspective do you think Senator Chafee would have brought? I don’t think there’d have been much daylight between him and the Democrats on this issue.

I voted for Chafee because he was less incompetent than Whitehouse. He actually ran Warwick pretty successfully.Whitehouse would have trouble running a lemonade stand, but they keep kicking him upstairs.
A nightmare:Whitehouse in the White House.Just think of that and save on ipecac next time you eat bad clams or something.

Reed doesn’t care? Listening to Reed with his mumbling ,monotone delivery, one would have to assume he has no passion for anything. Contrasted with the much taller cartoonish Whitehouse, Reed comes across as a fully developed stuff shirt.
