And Then There’s Open Season on the Right
Further to Robert Wright’s specious left-wing argument that we shouldn’t battle terrorist organizations abroad because it might set off a few loons at home, take a moment to ponder this revelation:
A Kentucky census worker found naked, bound with duct tape and hanging from a tree with “fed” scrawled on his chest killed himself but staged his death to make it look like a homicide, authorities said Tuesday.
The lack of incidents notwithstanding, the American left and the mainstream media have made it such a forceful cliché that white, Christian, male conservatives are a violent horde stalking our nation that it’s become the context for this sort of insurance fraud. You know, I don’t think I’ve ever read a single opinion piece questioning the appropriateness of jumping to conclusions about and maligning right-wingers because of random incidents and statements on the grounds that it might drive us to a further sense of isolation and tendency toward violence.
Perhaps that’s because the folks inclined toward such worries when it comes to other groups know that their worldview is a house of imaginary cards.
Just remember that Napolitano described returning veterans and right wingers, particularly gun owners as potential terrorists. Not moslem extremists in the Armed Forces,no,no-wouldn’t do to say that.
Of course Barry sneered at people who cling to guns and religion(I took that as those who believe in God)when he was swapping spit with the liberal “intelligentsia” in Frisco.
Ignoring the extremes of either belief system, I have always believed that “conservatives” simply want to go along and get along. “Liberals” it seems desire or accept regulation of behavior and collectivist thinking.
For this reason I have always wondered why the Nazis and Communists are regularly described as “far right wing”, I have always thought of them as “far left wing”. I think one of the reasons for the “open season” on right wing conservatives is that they have been pasted with the same label as Nazis and Communists.
I own a gun. Because of the right wing comments I read here.
David-you are not in danger of right wingers coming to take your firearms or frankly, coming to do anything else to tou.
The social engineers(and they are definitely left wingers)are the ones who can’t keep their noses out of other peoples’ lives. Most all right wingers as you call them, just don’t want to be f**ked with. But the Obamabots just can’t leave well enough alone.
I own a firearm for self/family protection;target shooting;and resisting oppression by whomever.
Considering my age and health problems,I have little to lose.
I would like to add to my comment above that better political philosophers than myself have noted a convergence at the extremes of the “right wing” and the “left wing”.
I think this has little to do with the opinions of your average “conservative” or “liberal” (I haven’t yet learned to say “Progressive”).
I have noticed that every third generation, or so, “liberals” adopt the “name and style” of “Progressive”. The term has been little heard of since the 1930’s.
Henry wallace ran as the “Progressive” candidate in the 1948 predidential election, the same one where Strom Thurmond ran as a Dixiecrat.
Saul Alinsky must be proud of this guy. The truth is no obstacle when there is an opportunity to make the opposition look bad.
Remember, for the Left, power defines truth. “How many fingers am I holding up, Winston?”
Joe Benstein writes:

“The Communist Party USA did not field a presidential candidate, and instead endorsed Wallace for President” – Wiki
I also found that Teddy Roosevelt ran on a “Progressive” ticket in 1912.
So, 1912, 1948, 2002+/-
Teddy Roosevelt was no commie,as I am sure you know.LaFollette was the guiding light of the Progressive Party, and the commies supported him although he wasn’t one of them.
