Are you feeling the wobble in RI’s medical infrastructure?
I find it ominous that one of my children’s dentist just cancelled an appointment for tomorrow due to short staffing. RI’s medical infrastructure feels a bit like we could get the equivalent of an emergency Washington Bridge closure at any time. Or maybe we’ve been getting them, but the people who run the state are better able to distract from and hide the effects.
I thought this Sudden Adult Death Syndrome was just a media thing, confined to pro soccer players keeling over on the pitch or newsreaders collapsing on camera. But no, I tried to make a dental appointment only to be told that the dentist (who, last encountered had been a hale and hearty 50ish) had retired to the big waiting room in the sky. So I guess it is a real thing.
Never mind that all-cause mortality is still elevated…”they’re eating cats and dogs”.
