At least, that’s my reaction upon seeing this on NewsMax:

The World Health Organization says it is monitoring a new vaccine-resistant variant of COVID-19 called “mu” that appears to be rising in Colombia.

Even putting aside claims, like that of Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche at the end of the article, that our mass vaccination program is increasing the likelihood of variants, we have to face reality.  COVID is just with us now, as a low-deadliness/high-contagiousness disease, and variants will arise.  We may regret having so thoroughly suppressed the development of natural immunity.

We’ve given up our rights awfully quickly for a disease that may be here for the long haul.
